Shuten-dōji is a legendary creature from Japanese folklore. In the folklore, Shuten-dōji is described as a fearsome oni or demon that lived on Mount Ōe, near Kyoto, during the Heian period (794-1185 AD).
According to legend, Shuten-dōji was known for abducting young women and devouring them, as well as causing other acts of mischief and terrorizing the people of Kyoto. The creature was said to be incredibly strong and had the ability to shapeshift into various forms, making it difficult to catch.
